Imagine you have approximately 80000 Rs. with you in your wallet out of which you have already spent half of it so far and another 1000 Rs. are already spent today. There is no way or the possibility of adding more money to your wallet. What should you feel about spending that last spent 1000 Rs. ? Good or Bad ? Happy or Sad ?
Birthdays are the same.. isn’t it. ? It is one of the greatest paradoxes of human life. Is a birthday a moment to celebrate and be happy or a moment to feel sad that another year from your life is gone and will not come back. Well it all depends on how well you have spent those 1000 Rs. from your wallet last year.
If you have spent those 1000 Rs. in a sensible way where every Rupee spent has added some value in your life and given you ample happiness, then you will feel that the money spent was worthwhile and will not make you feel any regrets.
If you have spent those same 1000 Rs. in something that was not even able to make you and others happy and created only a sense of disappointment then its a moment to feel sad and disappointed.
The same goes for Life, so I always feel it is a great practice to introspect the year gone by and see how well it was spent. Of course, you can not really reverse or do anything about what has been spent but at least that gives you a proper insight of what can be done better in the days to come for better spending of those precious days that are left in your life.
Also going back to the same analogy, when you know that you have already spent half of your wallet wealth and there is no way to gain more wallet wealth (In analogy, more years to your life), you must start investing the rest of the wealth to gain additional return.. IN life it is the same thing, plan your rest of your life with proper investments that will give you better returns than a normal life.
Plan to invest your life in
Things that you love to do but never had courage to do
Things that people said you can never do but you always thought you could
Things that others expected you to do which would make both you and them happy
Go for that difficult nature trek, Skydive, Scuba.
If you are the social service types, do those activities that make you happy.
If are those acting types, act and make those small Instagram reels
Don’t bother or worry that people may judge you… Just do what makes you feel that the years that you are spending are worthwhile as remember, each day whether you spend willingly or not will be spent anyways.. so why not spend it the way you want it.
It has been 47 years of completing revolutions around the Sun today and looking back to those 17167 days I feel blessed with the kind of family and friends that have been a part of my journey so far. I feel indebted for whatever small or big contribution from all of you.
